About the position

The Onboarding and Training Specialist position is located in the Special Operations Division of the District of Columbia Superior Court. This role serves as the subject matter expert for the deployment, creation, and management of role-based training materials, online learning tools, onboarding oversight, and standardization of business practices and operational procedures across the various divisions and offices of the Superior Court. The specialist will collaborate with different divisions to ensure that business processes and operating procedures are standardized, thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of training programs across the court system. In this position, the specialist will be responsible for researching, developing, and implementing systems and tools to monitor compliance with established onboarding and role-based training standards. They will gather feedback on new employees' progress from managers and design, develop, and maintain training materials that are aligned with the court's business processes and standard operating procedures. This includes creating PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, eLearning materials, and other relevant training resources. Additionally, the Onboarding and Training Specialist will facilitate supervisory role-based "train-the-trainer" programs for court supervisors and manage eLearning content and digital platforms to ensure accurate functionality. They will also assess onboarding and training needs through various methods such as surveys, interviews, and focus groups, collaborating closely with managers to ensure that the training provided meets the needs of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Superior Court divisions and offices to standardize business processes and operating procedures.
  • Research, develop, and implement systems and tools to monitor compliance with established onboarding and role-based training standards.
  • Gather feedback on new employees' progress from Superior Court managers.
  • Design, develop, and maintain role-based training and onboarding materials derived from business processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Create PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, eLearning materials, and other relevant training resources.
  • Facilitate supervisory role-based 'train-the-trainer' and development programs for Superior Court supervisors.
  • Maintain and manage eLearning content and digital platforms to ensure accurate functionality, troubleshoot issues, and monitor utilization.
  • Assess onboarding and role-based training needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and collaboration with managers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED plus eight (8) years of administrative experience supporting a major program or agency operation.
  • Two (2) years must be in a position requiring data collection, analysis, and reporting; researching, analyzing, interpreting, or drafting business process documents; and developing, updating, and standardizing enterprise-wide training materials.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to problem solve.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of instructional design and/or ability to effectively utilize tools such as Case Management Systems, Captive or another eLearning tool, and Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
  • Associate degree plus six (6) years of administrative experience supporting a major program or agency operation, with two (2) years in a relevant position.
  • Bachelor's degree plus four (4) years of administrative experience supporting a major program or agency operation, with two (2) years in a relevant position.
  • Master's degree plus two (2) years of experience in a relevant position.
