About the position

The Onboarding Specialist at Holman plays a crucial role in welcoming new hires and ensuring a smooth transition into the organization. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining efficient onboarding procedures, facilitating training sessions, and coordinating communication among new hires, hiring managers, and HR. The Onboarding Specialist embodies the company culture and ensures compliance with onboarding requirements, ultimately fostering a positive experience for new employees.

Responsibilities

  • Greet new hires and introduce them to the organization's culture and operations.
  • Develop and maintain efficient onboarding procedures for all employees, including creating checklists for new hires.
  • Ensure new hires progress smoothly through the onboarding process without delays.
  • Coordinate communication among new hires, hiring managers, IT, and HR to facilitate a seamless onboarding experience.
  • Identify new employees and their hiring managers before their start dates.
  • Communicate with new hires prior to their start dates to ensure completion of necessary paperwork.
  • Schedule and oversee new hire training sessions in collaboration with the Holman University team.
  • Ensure compliance with onboarding requirements and eLearning offerings, updating information and materials as necessary.
  • Facilitate onboarding and cultural training sessions for new hires.
  • Conduct in-person orientation presentations to familiarize new hires with company policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Assist new employees in acclimating to their work environment by connecting them with available resources.
  • Plan and coordinate events designed to welcome and integrate new hires into the organization.
  • Implement, monitor, and report on the New Hire Survey to assess the effectiveness of the onboarding process.
  • Collaborate with the HR Technology & Analytics team to monitor new hire turnover and retention rates.
  • Create opportunities for new hires to network with other new and existing employees.
  • Consult with hiring managers to develop department-specific onboarding plans tailored to their team's needs.
  • Coordinate the issuance of building access badges for new hires.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in customer service.
  • 1+ years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Proficient in various desktop tools including MS Office Programs (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, SharePoint etc.).
  • Familiarity with office technology and equipment, including computers, fax machines, scanners, printers, phone systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional education, certifications, or experience are a plus.
  • Proficiency in a technical or functional area; knowledge of work processes and tools is generally limited to own area of responsibility or department.
