About the position

The Oncology Registered Nurse position is a contract and per diem role based in Staten Island, focusing on providing comprehensive nursing care to oncology patients. The nurse will be responsible for assessing both the physiological and psychosocial health status of patients, ensuring that they receive the highest quality of care throughout their treatment journey. This includes conducting thorough patient interviews, explaining policies and procedures, and reviewing patient charts to address any questions or concerns. The nurse will assess various health statuses, including gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological, while also evaluating pain levels and management strategies. In addition to physiological assessments, the nurse will also focus on the psychosocial aspects of patient care. The role requires the nurse to formulate and implement a plan of care, prioritizing activities to achieve expected outcomes. This includes maintaining patient safety, administering prescribed treatments, and providing emotional support to patients and their families. Collaboration with other care team members is essential, as the nurse will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure a cohesive treatment regimen.
