About the position

As an Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) at Henrico Doctors' Hospital Forest, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional care to oncology patients. This position involves comprehensive knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgical interventions, as well as providing pre-operative and post-operative care. You will work closely with a team of healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring the highest standards of nursing practice are met.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgical interventions.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for a variety of surgical oncology cases.
• Assess, monitor, record, report, and follow through on symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and modify the plan of care.
• Work closely with oncology-certified nurses and cancer experts to create and implement individualized care plans.
• Provide individualized education for patients, families, and caregivers throughout the continuum of care.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
• Current Registered Nurse license in Virginia or a compact license.
• Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification.
• Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certification preferred (required after 1 year of employment).
• Certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in oncology nursing.
• Familiarity with infusion lines such as port-a-caths and PICC lines.
