About the position

The Area Sales Manager will oversee sales efforts for the newly opening Hampton Inn & Suites Maui, as well as the Maui Seaside Hotel and Paia Inn. This role focuses on creating and implementing innovative sales strategies to enhance revenue across various market segments, including corporate, social, and events. The manager will lead a team to ensure exceptional guest experiences while meeting and exceeding sales goals.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and lead sales efforts to achieve guest satisfaction and meet/exceed sales, revenue, and profit objectives.
  • Solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat business through various outside sales efforts, maximizing room and catering revenue.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, monitoring, and controlling the sales annual budget and marketing plans.
  • Analyze competition, market trends, and customer needs; prepare and review forecasts and sales reports.
  • Implement company programs and direct operations to meet/exceed budgeted goals while ensuring quality guest service.
  • Develop and enhance relationships with key corporate, business, and community organizations to increase market share.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge in marketing and sales, particularly in the hotel and event industries.
  • Develop effective proposals, RFP responses, contracts, and other communication documents for clients.
  • Act as a liaison with other hotel departments to ensure group and catering needs are met.
  • Train hotel staff on recognizing and capitalizing on sales opportunities to increase occupancy and revenue.
  • Participate in trade shows and community organizations to maintain visibility and achieve sales goals.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Service-oriented with exceptional guest service and sales skills.
  • Previous sales and marketing leadership experience in comparable properties.
  • Knowledge of travel trade industry and group markets.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work during business hours with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with online distribution channels in leisure and group segments.
  • Strong understanding of customer relationship management principles.
