About the position

As an Online Instructional Design Specialist at ESC Region 13, you will collaborate with education subject matter experts to create engaging online and blended learning experiences for teachers and educators. This role involves designing instructional materials, assessments, and learning activities, primarily using the Canvas learning management system (LMS). You will leverage your expertise in adult learning principles to develop clear learning objectives and instructional goals, ensuring that the content aligns with best practices in teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a representative of ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy and discretion in all interactions.
• Work with subject matter experts to design and develop online and blended courses.
• Use industry best practices for designing innovative learning elements that engage learners.
• Collaborate with design and multimedia teams to create graphic and visual elements to support learning.
• Update and maintain existing online and blended courses, converting outdated technologies to current platforms.
• Consult with and support staff using Canvas, Zoom, and other learning tools.
• Design and host professional learning experiences that model best practices for learner experiences.
• Curate materials that support best practices for learner experience within an LMS.
• Contribute to process documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Work with the Learner Experience team to improve department efficiency and effectiveness.
• Maintain positive project and client relationships.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in education, instructional design, creative design, educational technology, or a similar field.
• Three or more years of experience in designing online courses and engaging learning experiences for adult learners.
• Demonstrated LMS instructional design and course authoring experience.
• Teaching or training experience.
• Experience with HTML.
