About the position

The Online Investigator is responsible for leading and supporting fraud investigations within the online business of Home Depot. This role involves collaborating with various business partners to utilize investigative tools aimed at reducing the company's exposure to fraud. The investigator will analyze data, manage the investigative process, and coordinate with law enforcement to ensure effective prosecution and recovery of losses.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and eliminate online fraud.
  • Utilize online ordering systems and exception reporting to investigate and prosecute fraud.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with online teams, financial institutions, law enforcement, and industry partners.
  • Analyze information and determine exception data to drive investigations.
  • Communicate and coordinate information with online business teams and other partners.
  • Manage the investigative process and coordinate with law enforcement for prosecution and restitution recovery.
  • Review CCTV footage to support investigative efforts.
  • Conduct case trend analysis to drive performance and make recommendations to mitigate fraud exposure.

Requirements

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient with Windows-based systems including Word and Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of online fraud, credit card fraud, and case development leading to prosecution.
  • Experience in law enforcement or private sector financial investigations.
  • Training or demonstrated experience in statistical analysis, internal audit, quantitative analysis, and data mining for fraud detection.
  • Membership in IAFCI and/or ACFE.
