About the position

The Online Learning Developer at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine plays a crucial role in transforming healthcare education by designing and developing online coursework for adult learners. This position involves collaboration with faculty and subject matter experts to create engaging and accessible educational materials, ensuring that the center's offerings are current and relevant. The developer will also support the instructional design team in implementing learning activities and assessments, contributing to the overall mission of empowering health professionals and communities through integrative medicine education.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty and subject matter experts to design and develop online coursework for adult learners.
  • Promote accessibility and universal design principles in instructional technology.
  • Provide guidance and support to faculty in creating inclusive learning environments.
  • Support faculty and instructional staff in integrating technology effectively into teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement learning activities and assessments for the instructional design team.
  • Plan, organize, and develop curricula, materials, and programs to meet specific training needs.
  • Analyze learning needs and partner with subject matter experts to provide input for course content.
  • Develop new online learning platform features and improve existing ones.
  • Design and develop visually appealing and user-friendly websites and web applications.
  • Implement design principles to ensure optimal viewing experience across various devices.
  • Optimize website performance through regular updates and enhancements.
  • Conduct usability tests and gather feedback to improve user experience.
  • Maintain updated online content about Center offerings.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and create design mockups.
  • Use content management systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with brand standards.
  • Create and maintain consistent visual libraries for the Center's online interfaces.
  • Create and optimize graphics, multimedia elements, and interactive features for web use.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
  • Knowledge of instructional principles, theories, and concepts, especially for adult learners.
  • Proficiency with graphics and layout software.
  • Knowledge of SQL.
  • Familiarity with integrating cloud-based services in web development.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience with IDEs and version control (Git).
  • Experience with Microsoft products.
  • Experience with CMS and LMS.
  • Experience with Adobe CC.
