About the position

The Online Learning Facilitator at Northampton Community College plays a crucial role in supporting online public safety training for adult participants. This position involves providing technical assistance, moderating online sessions, and ensuring a smooth learning experience for students. The facilitator will work closely with trainers and participants to troubleshoot issues and coordinate logistics for online courses, contributing to the college's mission of transforming lives through education.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating the day-to-day administration and logistics of the CPS online training courses.
  • Ensure effective logistics before and during course implementation, including administrative preparation of course materials in liaison with trainers.
  • Support trainers with formatting and branding of materials and ensure the smooth running of all online courses.
  • Coordinate with trainers and participants to provide logistical and technical support before, during, and after the online learning course.
  • Escalate complex issues to ensure timely resolution.
  • Assist with any other tasks required to support the setup and support of online courses.
  • Keep current with online course training materials, tools, technology, and protocols.
  • Perform routine and other training program-related tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Run final report data and paperwork for submission and recordkeeping.
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year of training in online learning technology either through direct experience or by completing relevant courses is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of online learning tools (Blackboard preferred), printers and peripherals, and various software applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, email, Intranet, web browsers).
  • Ability to quickly learn technical programs with a focus on e-learning platforms (e.g., Blackboard).
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to convey technical information professionally.
  • Ability to assist and problem-solve a variety of online learning and basic computer-related issues.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Zoom and other online meeting platforms.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and practices.
