The Online Publication Service Editor at the University of Chicago plays a crucial role in managing and promoting digital publications within the UChicago Online Publication Service series. This position is integral to the Forum for Digital Culture, which serves as a hub for digital arts and humanities. The editor will report directly to the Director of Online Publications and will be responsible for a variety of editorial tasks that ensure the quality and accessibility of digital materials produced by scholars. This includes collaborating with faculty and researchers to facilitate the publication process, adhering to established data modeling and publication standards, and cleaning existing data to maintain accuracy and consistency. In addition to editorial responsibilities, the Online Publication Service Editor will actively promote the Online Publication Service to faculty and researchers both at the University of Chicago and beyond. This involves engaging with potential authors, discussing the suitability of the service for their digital research, and representing the service at various academic events, conferences, and workshops. The editor will also be involved in creating marketing materials and composing publication advertisements to enhance the visibility of the service and its offerings. Teaching is another key component of this role, as the editor will be expected to teach or assist in teaching one or two Digital Studies courses each year. This may include courses focused on data management and publication for the humanities. The position also allows for the possibility of conducting independent computational research and contributing to academic publications, subject to approval by the Faculty Director.
