About the position

Nesco Resource is seeking an onsite Data Center Technician in the greater Secaucus NJ Area. This position is part of the IT Service Delivery branch and offers a competitive salary range of $65,000.00 to $76,000.00. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced Smart Hands Technician with a strong background in onsite data center operations. The role requires extensive experience with rack and stack procedures, server break/fix, and a deep understanding of data center infrastructure. The successful candidate will be a hands-on individual who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and provide exceptional technical support to ensure the smooth operation of data center services. As a Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for performing onsite support activities, including the rack and stack of equipment, cable management, and physical hardware troubleshooting. You will install, configure, and maintain servers, storage devices, and networking equipment, executing server break/fix tasks, including diagnostics, part replacement, and system restoration. Coordination with remote teams and providing hands-on support for various IT infrastructure projects will be essential. Additionally, you will conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of data center equipment, manage and document hardware inventory, and ensure compliance with data center policies, security protocols, and safety standards. Responding to and resolving technical incidents and service requests promptly while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support data center operations and project deployments will be key aspects of this role. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment, adhering to best practices for data center management, is also expected.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or degree in a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in a data center environment with hands-on experience in rack and stack, server maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and cabling systems.
  • Proficiency in using various tools and equipment for hardware installation and repair.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment as required.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, or equivalent.
  • Experience with network switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Familiarity with data center management software and monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for data center operations.
