About the position

Nesco Resource is seeking an onsite Data Center Technician (Smart Hands Tech) in Somerset, NJ. This position is part of the IT Service Delivery branch and is crucial for maintaining the operational excellence of our data center services. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced technician with a strong background in onsite data center operations. The role requires a hands-on individual who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and provide exceptional technical support. The technician will be responsible for performing escorts, configurations, and cable management, as well as having a solid understanding of data center infrastructure. This position operates on a schedule from Monday to Friday, 10 PM to 6 AM, and offers a competitive hourly wage of $26.50, plus a 10% differential. After 90 days, full benefits will be provided, and this is a right-to-hire position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform onsite support activities including configurations, cable management, and physical hardware troubleshooting.
  • Monitor and maintain servers, storage devices, and networking equipment.
  • Coordinate with remote teams and provide hands-on support for various IT infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of data center equipment.
  • Manage and document hardware inventory, ensuring accuracy and availability.
  • Ensure compliance with data center policies, security protocols, and safety standards.
  • Respond to and resolve technical incidents and service requests promptly.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support data center operations and project deployments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to best practices for data center management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or degree in a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in using various tools and equipment for hardware installation and repair.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment as required.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with data center management software and monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for data center operations.
