The Senior Network Engineer position at a fast-growing manufacturing company based in Canonsburg, PA, offers an exciting opportunity for professionals with a strong background in networking and systems management. This role is pivotal in designing and implementing robust network infrastructures that include firewalls, load balancers, and various network services. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of network systems, which includes a deep understanding of Cisco and Meraki switches, routers, and wireless systems. You will also work with Barracuda firewalls and possess a strong grasp of TCP/IP, subnets, routing, VPNs, DNS, and other critical networking protocols. Your expertise will be essential in documenting and analyzing both software and hardware issues, as well as designing, testing, and implementing system solutions that meet the company's business needs. In this role, you will provide high-level support for business-critical systems, troubleshoot and diagnose common system problems, and recommend actions to improve system performance. You will also be involved in upgrading system software and hardware components, ensuring that backups are verified, and that upgrades are conducted according to established parameters. The position requires a proactive approach to maintaining both physical and virtual servers, as well as experience with storage solutions such as SAN and Synology. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement network of firewalls, load balancers, and other network systems and services.
  • Document and analyze software and hardware issues.
  • Design, test, and implement systems solutions.
  • Research software and hardware products and prepare purchase orders.
  • Provide support for business-critical systems at the highest level.
  • Direct troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common system problems; analyze system events to ensure continuous functioning.
  • Recommend course of action and implement as approved by Director.
  • Upgrade system software and hardware components as required to meet business needs, verify backups, and ensure upgrades occur in accordance with established parameters.
  • Utilize help desk to record change and problem activities for tracking purposes.
  • Maintain both physical and virtual servers.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Cisco and Meraki switches, routers, and wireless systems.
  • Working knowledge of Barracuda firewalls.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, subnets, routing, firewalls, VPN, DNS (Public and Private), Domain Management, HTTPS, FTP, NTP.
  • Working knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Experience with Windows 7-10, Windows Server, Active Directory (AD), VMware, and Backup Exec or similar backup solutions.
  • Experience patching and maintaining systems.
  • Storage experience with SAN/Synology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certifications in networking (e.g., CCNA, CCNP).
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools.
