About the position

The Onsite Virtual Nurse position at MercyOne involves delivering patient care through remote bedside nursing from the Virtual Command Center (VCC) located in Des Moines, Iowa. This role is designed for an RN, BSN candidate who will assess and care for patients using video conferencing technology, ensuring high-quality care while minimizing exposure to contagious diseases. The position requires acute care experience and a strong comfort level with technology, as well as the ability to think and act quickly in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide patients with virtual health assessments and treatment solutions from the Virtual Command Center.
• Create, implement, and monitor care plans in collaboration with other care teams.
• Utilize technology such as video conferencing and electronic charting effectively.
• Coordinate resources and respond quickly in emergency scenarios.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited Nursing Program or currently enrolled in a program.
• Possession of a current or compact state license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Iowa.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter - Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three months of hire.
• Basic Life Support certified within six weeks of hire.
• Minimum of eight years in clinical focus area preferred.
• Three years leadership experience (including Charge RN experience) required.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in nursing as Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) preferred.
• Master's degree in nursing as Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) accepted.
