About the position

The Oracle Policy Automation (OPA) Developer will play a crucial role in designing and authoring business rules for client engagements. This position requires strong technical knowledge to interpret program policies and procedures, transforming them into structured OPA business rules. The developer will collaborate with business analysts to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications, primarily focusing on business rules.

Responsibilities

  • Design and author business rules using Oracle Policy Automation (OPA).
  • Interpret program policies and procedures to create logically structured OPA business rules.
  • Collaborate with business analysts to understand business requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications, primarily business rules.
  • Work within a project team dedicated to delivering client engagements using common tools and methodologies.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of project experience with OPA rule modeling, including designing, authoring, and testing OPA rules using Oracle Policy Modeling.
  • Good understanding of OPA 12, OPA HUB, and integration of OPA 12 rules with Java.
  • Excellent knowledge of XML and good knowledge of Java.
  • Proficient in analyzing software requirements and documenting technical specifications for web applications/services.
  • Two or more years of experience working with transactional database systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, or DB2.
  • Experience with version control tools like VSS, CVS, or SVN.
  • Good understanding of build and deploy procedures.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP).
  • Strong knowledge of software implementation best practices.
  • Experience designing and working with n-tier architectures and some experience with service-oriented architectures (SOA).

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of JSP, CSS, EJB, Servlets, JDBC, Logging mechanisms (e.g., Log4J), Eclipse development interface, SPY, Toad for Oracle, SQL Developer, JSF, JMS, JDBC, Java Transaction Management, Thread Management.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to an existing, complex environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts and software.
  • Self-motivated, independent, detail-oriented, responsible team player.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Passionate about building high-quality systems with software implementation best practices.
  • Ability to multi-task and support multiple priorities/multiple deliverables.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
