About the position
The Open Content and Affordable Learning Librarian at Ball State University is responsible for promoting engagement with Open Educational Resources (OER), Open Access scholarship, and course reserve services among faculty, students, and staff. This role involves providing consultative and instructional services, participating in university initiatives related to affordable learning, and fostering strategic partnerships to enhance course material affordability. The position is integral to advancing the Libraries' mission and supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide consultative services to advance University community's engagement with Open Educational Resources (OER).
- Conduct instructional sessions, workshops, and consultative services on topics including Open Educational Resources, Open Access publishing, and course reserves.
- Collaborate with the Copyright and Scholarly Communications Manager to guide faculty, staff, and students on open licensing and fair use of course materials.
- Develop and provide inclusive educational programming to increase awareness of scholarly communications models and open access opportunities.
- Participate in the development and application of assessment methodologies to measure impact related to OER and Open Access initiatives.
- Actively contribute to professional organizations, presentations, and publications in the field.
Requirements
- MLS/MLIS/MIS degree from an ALA accredited program or other relevant degree at time of appointment.
- Experience related to Open Educational Resources, Open Access, or open pedagogy.
Nice-to-haves
- Certification in Creative Commons licensing, open licensing, and fair use copyright concepts.
- Experience designing, implementing, and marketing academic library services.
- Experience planning and implementing instructional sessions and workshops.
- Experience with institutional repositories.
