About the position

The Open Knowledge Librarian at Lehigh University is a collaborative and knowledge-equity centered professional responsible for advocating open access to scholarship and knowledge. This role involves developing outreach, policy, and infrastructure to support knowledge equity, partnering with various stakeholders, and leading initiatives related to scholarly publishing, copyright instruction, and open educational resources.

Responsibilities

• Lead outreach for the university's institutional repository, Preserve.
• Develop programming and documentation on publishing topics.
• Promote and support knowledge equity and open access initiatives.
• Assist with open data access and digital preservation of theses and dissertations.
• Support faculty in adopting and creating open educational resources (OER).
• Promote open pedagogy practices, including renewable assignments and student knowledge creation.
• Serve as the lead librarian on copyright and intellectual property developments.
• Provide campus instruction on copyright issues and best practices.
• Consult with users on copyright concerns such as fair use and author's rights.
• Pursue professional development learning opportunities and maintain a professional network.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent education and experience.
• Three to five years of related work experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of scholarly publishing and open access principles.
• Experience with institutional repositories and open educational resources (OER).
• Higher education outreach and engagement experience.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across varied groups.
