About the position

The Open Rank Associate Professor or Full Professor position at North Carolina State University is a tenured role within the School of Social Work, aimed at candidates with strong leadership, research, and teaching experience in social work practice, theories, research, and policy. The role includes responsibilities in teaching graduate-level courses, student recruitment, community partnerships, and enhancing the alumni network, all while contributing to the strategic growth of the Graduate Programs in the School of Social Work.

Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate-level courses in the Master of Social Work (MSW) program and potentially in the undergraduate program (BSW).
  • Lead initiatives to recruit a diverse and qualified student body for the program.
  • Establish and maintain collaborations with community partners at local, national, and international levels.
  • Strengthen and enhance the alumni network, fostering relationships with former students.
  • Facilitate a positive and supportive work environment for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Contribute to the growth of Graduate Programs in the School of Social Work and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Strategic Plan.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Social Work or closely related field, with degree at the time of application or notification of completion by start date.
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching, research, scholarship, and outreach/engagement activities.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and the capacity to carry out an original research agenda.
  • Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and advising/mentoring.
  • Excellent communication skills and collegiality.
  • Record of research, scholarship, creative activities, and community engagement.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Social Work with 2 years post-Masters degree practice experience and a Ph.D. in Social Work or closely related field.
  • Experience leading a Social Work Administrative and Leadership program or position.
  • Experience in program development and developing curriculums, including online courses.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience across the curriculum at undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Experience working collaboratively with teams and leading projects.
  • Knowledge regarding the CSWE EPAS.
