About the position
The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking an academic clinical pathologist for a full-time position in the Department of Pathology. This role focuses on directing the special chemistry section of the clinical laboratory and overseeing the hospital's point of care testing program. The successful candidate will engage in clinical care, administrative management, teaching, and research, contributing to the training of future healthcare professionals and enhancing laboratory services.
Responsibilities
- Direct the special chemistry section of the main clinical laboratory.
- Oversee the hospital's point of care testing program, ensuring quality and efficiency.
- Provide clinical consultation for laboratory tests and interpret results.
- Train medical laboratory scientists and participate in pathology resident and fellow training.
- Support the functioning of multiple laboratories and validate tests.
- Develop lab stewardship tools and data analysis strategies for test utilization.
- Participate in clinical pathology on-call coverage.
Requirements
- Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.)
- Completion of CP or AP/CP Residency in Pathology with board certification or board eligibility in CP or AP/CP by the American Board of Pathology
- Qualify for a full unrestricted license to practice pathology in Colorado
- For Associate Professor: At least 5 years of experience practicing in a clinical laboratory post-fellowship.
