About the position

The Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, focusing on hematological malignancies and bone marrow transplant (BMT). The successful candidate will develop a robust clinical practice in collaboration with Surgical and Radiation Oncologists, engage in teaching and mentoring, and participate in cutting-edge research programs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with basic and translational scientists and clinical investigators to develop a state-of-the-art research program.
  • Give didactic lectures to residents and fellows.
  • Teach residents and fellows in the outpatient clinic setting.
  • Participate actively in teaching activities in the Department of Medicine, including mentoring and advising medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participate in educational conferences and activities within the Department of Medicine and Cancer Center.
  • Participate in state-of-the-art Phase II/III clinical trials.
  • Collect and analyze data and present findings at national conferences.
  • Develop and serve as principal investigator for investigator-initiated clinical trials in hematological malignancies.
  • Provide outpatient and inpatient care to hematological malignancies/BMT patients.
  • Supervise Hematology/Oncology fellows and APPs in clinic and inpatient ward rotations.
  • Attend 8 weeks of the year on the Bone Marrow Transplant service.
  • Develop a robust outpatient clinical practice with four to six half-day clinics per week focused on hematological malignancies and BMT.
  • Participate in faculty call schedule and other clinical activities of the division.

Requirements

  • MD, DO or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board-eligible in Medicine-Hematology/Oncology.
  • Completed three-year residency in Internal Medicine.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills.
  • Assistant Professor: Early career faculty member with appropriate postgraduate training.
  • Associate Professor: Mid-level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training.
  • Professor: Senior-level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training.
