About the position

The Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) Program at Merrimack College is seeking two non-tenure-track, open rank, Assistant Professors of Practice for 9-month positions starting in Spring 2025. The role involves providing formal online instruction, mentoring graduate students, and participating in programmatic tasks within a dynamic and innovative training program focused on diversity, equity, and social justice in mental health counseling.

Responsibilities

• Teach 16-credit/contact hours (4 courses) during the fall and spring semesters.
• Advise and mentor graduate students.
• Attend faculty meetings and complete CMHC programmatic tasks.
• Deliver effective instructional material and manage course assessments and grading.
• Potentially teach courses during the summer, which may count towards the overall teaching load.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in Counseling, Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field preferred; or a master's degree in Counseling with at least 10 years of professional clinical practice experience.
• 3-5 years of experience teaching, preferably in synchronous or asynchronous online courses.
• Experience in clinical supervision and training.
• Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion with experience working with diverse students.
• Licensure as a mental health counselor with a minimum of 10 years of professional clinical practice experience after obtaining licensure, or licensure as a psychologist.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with online teaching platforms and technologies.
