About the position

The University of Virginia's Department of Public Health Sciences is seeking an Open Rank Professor of Public Health Sciences specializing in Cancer Data Science as part of its Precision Health initiative. This role aims to advance cancer prevention and control strategies, focusing on reducing cancer disparities through innovative research in personalized cancer prevention and risk prediction. The successful candidate will contribute to a multidisciplinary team and will be supported to develop independent scientific programs in cancer research.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct innovative research in cancer epidemiology and data sciences.
  • Develop strategies for personalized cancer prevention and risk prediction.
  • Engage in next-generation translational research using data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address cancer prevention and control.
  • Contribute to the Precision Health for Populations Initiative.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or terminal degree in a relevant field.
  • At least three years of experience in cancer epidemiology or data sciences.
  • Evidence of peer-reviewed funded research in cancer-related areas.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in cancer etiology, outcomes, biomarkers, screening, early detection, or therapeutics.
  • Familiarity with health disparities and population health.
