The Department of Health Sciences and the Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI) Center at Northeastern University invite applications for the position of Open Rank Research Professor in Health Data Science. This role is designed for outstanding candidates with experience in either methodological or applied research in the analysis of large-scale observational health data aimed at improving patient outcomes and the health of populations. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Research Professor, depending on their experience and qualifications. The Research Faculty member will be responsible for managing research projects and/or leading teams as a technical leader. Key responsibilities include preparing and submitting research grants to secure funding, publishing cutting-edge research, and mentoring junior faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and students. This position is intended to support a transition into research independence, with an expectation that the faculty member will gradually shift from fully hard-funded support to a salary primarily funded through soft-funded, external awards over a three-year period. Candidates are encouraged to apply if they are involved in the entire pipeline of conducting observational health studies at scale, particularly those whose research areas include the use of real-world data such as health insurance billing and claims data, electronic health records, and disease/medication registries. The department is particularly interested in individuals with expertise in Bayesian methods, causal inference, global drug surveillance, pharmacoepidemiology, biostatistics, data interoperability and harmonization, data standardization, surgical and medical device epidemiology, and health economics and outcomes research for quality measures. Northeastern University fosters a culture of respect and values each person's contributions, opposing all forms of racism and discrimination. The institution is committed to creating a diverse membership and providing training and mentorship to promote success for all individuals.
