About The Position
OceanBase is a cutting-edge database technology that has been supporting Alibaba's Double Eleven Shopping Festival for over a decade. It is designed to deliver unparalleled high performance, elastic and transparent scalability, always-on high availability, and cost-effectiveness for both transaction and analytical workloads. The platform provides transparent scalability and automatic workload balancing capabilities, allowing an OceanBase cluster to scale out to 1,500 nodes transparently, handling petabytes of data and a trillion rows of records. With ultra-fast performance, OceanBase has supported the Double 11 Shopping Festival for nine consecutive years, achieving an impressive 60 million records per second in queries per second (QPS), which is significantly larger than the traffic experienced during Black Friday. The real-time HTAP (Hybrid Transactional/Analytical Processing) capabilities of OceanBase enable transactions and complex analytical queries with just one copy of data, empowering businesses to make real-time decisions. Continuous availability is ensured through the use of the Paxos Consensus algorithm, achieving zero recovery point objective (RPO) and less than 30 seconds of recovery time objective (RTO), meaning no data loss in case of a failure or outage, even at a city level. OceanBase is highly compatible with several stable MySQL editions and their ecosystem tools, ensuring no learning curve for developers and no changes to business logic in applications. Additionally, the high-compression technology adopted by OceanBase can save up to 75% in storage costs, while its multi-tenant flexibility enables better resource utilization, further reducing costs.
