About the position

The Sr Network Engineer/Lead will play a critical role in providing ongoing support for the global data network. This position is primarily focused on level 2 and level 3 support for all network and telecom-related tasks and troubleshooting. The individual will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying Cisco LAN/WAN and Nexus network infrastructure, ensuring that all systems are operational and efficient. This role requires a strong understanding of IP telephony systems and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues effectively. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Sr Network Engineer/Lead will maintain documentation related to all systems developed and deployed, perform on-call duties for non-business hours support, and handle administrative tasks such as time entry and status reporting. The role also involves configuring and installing various network devices and services, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs. The engineer will monitor system performance, ensure availability and reliability, and manage system upgrades, including service packs and security configurations. Collaboration is key in this role, as the engineer will liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution, conduct technical training for internal resources, and work with offshore engineers for remote support. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential, as the engineer will need to interact with customers and present solutions to peers effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and deploy Cisco LAN/WAN and Nexus network infrastructure
  • Provide level 2 and level 3 support for network and telecom-related tasks
  • Responsible for 3rd level troubleshooting for all LAN/WAN and IP telephony issues
  • Maintain all monitoring and reporting systems
  • Produce and maintain documentation related to all systems developed/deployed
  • Perform on-call duty for non-business hours support as per shift assignments
  • Perform administrative tasks pertaining to time entry and status reporting
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS, IP telephony)
  • Configure and install wireless network and related tasks
  • Perform network and IP telephony maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies
  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company's security team
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Conduct technical trainings to internal resources
  • Work with offshore engineers for remote support
  • Provide required hand and feet support if required from base location

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of domain experience
  • Any CCNA, CCNP or IP telephony certification required
  • Excellent network troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with IP telephony and Nexus Silver Peak preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot layer 2 and layer 3 loops, routing protocol
  • Experience in troubleshooting asymmetric routing and STP loop issues
  • Experience in configuring/troubleshooting Cisco ASA, IPS would be an advantage
  • Experience in configuring/troubleshooting Cisco ISE
  • Experience in configuring/troubleshooting wireless Cisco WLC preferred
  • Experience in configuring/troubleshooting routing protocols EIGRP, OSPF, BGP
  • Experience in configuring/troubleshooting LAN switching VLAN, VTP, STP, EtherChannel
  • Experience in configuring/troubleshooting quality of service
  • Experience in configuring/troubleshooting TCP/IP protocol suite
  • Experience with Cisco Catalyst & Nexus 9K/7K series of switches
  • Experience in configuring/troubleshooting Cisco IOS, NX-OS software
  • Experience in configuring/troubleshooting application load balancers
  • Experience with load balancer firewall NetScaler and Fortinet preferred
  • Ability to analyze outputs of all tools and make recommendations
