About the position

The Data Center Operating Engineer is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of all electrical and mechanical systems within the data center. This role involves maintaining critical infrastructure, performing preventive maintenance, and resolving issues to achieve 100% uptime of systems such as HVAC, electrical backup systems, and fire/life safety systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance on all building systems to ensure 100% uptime.
  • Monitor operation and adjust refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Analyze the operation of various systems to determine causes of problems and take corrective action.
  • Comply with safety policies for hazardous materials storage and disposal.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Manage work orders, including CMMS and vendor management.
  • Understand and comply with emergency escalation procedures.
  • Perform additional job duties as required.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience working in a data center or critical facility.
  • Experience with building systems, including UPS systems, emergency generators, and switchgears.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Suite, and CMMS.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Corrigo experience.
  • Universal EPA 608 certification.
  • Trained in NFPA70E.
