About the position

As the Operating Room Nurse - Float Pool at HCA Healthcare, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality nursing care to surgical patients during the intra-operative period. This position requires a dedicated and skilled nurse who is capable of rotating to various ambulatory surgery center facilities, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of surgical procedures, and effectively managing the operating room environment. You will be responsible for overseeing the setup of instruments and equipment, preparing for surgical cases using preference cards, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon throughout the procedure. Your role will also involve coordinating and overseeing the operating room during surgical cases, facilitating smooth transitions between procedures, and ensuring effective communication with the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) staff to maintain continuity of care. In this dynamic position, you will utilize your nursing expertise to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring that each surgical patient receives the highest standard of care. You will be expected to update preference cards as necessary and relay critical information during handoff communications. Responsibilities

  • Rotate to other ambulatory surgery center facilities as needed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures and oversee instrument and equipment setup.
  • Prepare for surgical cases utilizing preference cards and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
  • Coordinate and oversee the operating room during surgical cases as the circulator.
  • Facilitate effective and efficient transitions between surgical procedures.
  • Utilize and update preference cards as necessary.
  • Relay appropriate handoff communication to PACU staff to ensure continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma required.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in an operating room setting, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center.
  • Active RN license as required by state of employment or appropriate compact licensure.
  • Valid BCLS & ACLS Certifications required upon employment (online certification not acceptable).
  • PALS certification required within 90 days, or earlier per department arrangement.
  • CNOR certification preferred.
