Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the operating room setting.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Assess patient needs and plan appropriate care.
• Implement and evaluate medical and nursing regimens.
• Adhere to infection control standards and safety protocols.
• Delegate tasks to ancillary staff as appropriate.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and mandatory in-services.
• Act as Charge Nurse when required.

Requirements

• Current RN License in New York.
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association).
• ACLS Certification (American Heart Association) required for all RNs.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required for all external RNs hired after January 1, 2018.
• One year of acute care nursing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of current nursing, medical, and health trends.

Nice-to-haves

• PALS Certification (American Heart Association) for RNs working in specific departments.
• NRP Certification for RNs in Mother-Baby, Labor & Delivery, and NICU.
