About the position

The Operational Research Analyst II Energy position at AtkinsRalis involves developing and maintaining digital tools, including discrete event simulation models, to address performance issues in nuclear facilities. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to identify operational risks and optimize plant performance, while also contributing to business development efforts through proposal documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, verify, validate, and maintain digital tools including discrete event simulation models.
  • Facilitate multi-discipline workshops to identify modeling needs and input requirements.
  • Analyze trends and model results to predict facility performance and identify operational risks and bottlenecks.
  • Work with stakeholders to minimize risks, identify improvements, and optimize overall plant performance.
  • Participate in business development by producing materials for bid and proposal documents explaining OR modeling capabilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics Science, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Process Engineering, Operational Research, Production Engineering or Management Science.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience supporting nuclear projects.
  • Experience in mathematical modeling, discrete event simulation, and digital twin modeling preferred.
  • Experience using Witness, Arena, Simul8, AnyLogic, Simio software or similar.
  • Data manipulation and analysis experience using Excel, Tableau, Power Bi, Access, Visual Basic, MATLAB, R or SQL.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to critically review work produced by the Operational Research team and provide technical guidance, feedback, mentorship, and perform quality control functions.
  • Self-starter who can work in a team environment with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Familiarity with stochastic simulation tools such as the WITNESS suite of modeling software.
