About the position

The Operational Research Analyst position at Group W involves supporting a government client by conducting analytical studies related to military operations. The role requires applying advanced analytical techniques to solve complex problems, particularly in the context of modern warfare. Analysts will work on modeling, simulation, and data analysis to provide insights that inform military strategies and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Apply skills to solve complex problems using statistical analysis, parametric and non-parametric analysis, computer modeling, simulation, and regression analysis
  • Serve as an analyst responsible for developing and executing analytical models and methods that support warfighting analyses
  • Advise other operations research analysts, scientists, or engineers on techniques best suited for tasked problems
  • Guide team members utilizing study lead management skills providing quality control and mentorship
  • Effectively communicate study results to analysts and/or senior leaders
  • Study future warfare
  • Provide data on requirements for military support in the event of war.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in industrial engineering, systems engineering, management science, operations research, or an applied science discipline
  • Experience with statistical and data analysis software, such as JMP or Tableau
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Active DoD Secret clearance & SCI Eligibility
  • Compliance with all International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior Marine Corps experience preferred
  • Master's degree from an accredited university in industrial engineering, systems engineering, management science, operations research, or an applied science discipline
  • Master's degree in Operational research
  • 5+ years' experience in military analysis
  • Prior experience writing Python or R for pre-processing, post-processing, data analytics, and data visualization
  • Some experience integrating artificial intelligence and machine learning into analytical studies
  • Experience with STORM (Synthetic Theater Research Operations Model) or other MS&A software
  • Experience operating a Unix/Linux operating system
  • Experience with JMP, R, SQL, VBA, Python, C#, Perl, MATLAB, and/or C++
  • Prior military experience or analysis conducted in support of DoD
  • Familiarity with theater OPLANs and/or Defense Planning Scenarios
  • Expertise in a variety of mathematical, statistical, and computer science arenas
