About the position

The Operational Risk Officer - Process and Loss at First Merchants Bank is responsible for fostering a robust operational risk management culture across the organization. This role involves providing leadership and support in assessing and managing operational risks, guiding incident response, and ensuring effective documentation and reporting of operational loss events. The officer will collaborate with various departments to analyze key risk indicators and participate in projects to mitigate risks associated with operational processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and support in the oversight and rating of operational risk across the bank.
• Participate in incident response and guide incident and event reporting for operational risk and loss events.
• Direct and manage operational loss event recording and propose enhancements to the methodology.
• Assess requirements for process improvements aimed at reducing risk and participate in relevant working groups.
• Analyze and interpret Key Risk Indicators (KRI) and communicate trends to business partners.
• Participate in operational and company-wide projects to facilitate risk reviews and mitigation efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
• A minimum of three (3) years in a risk management environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Three (3) to five (5) years of operations, IT, or report analysis experience.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task between multiple projects.
• Strong presentational skills and ability to independently direct and conduct meetings.
