The Operational Technology Consultant at Entergy is tasked with ensuring compliance with Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards for Real Time Systems at the company's fossil fuel-powered electricity generation plants. This role involves designing and developing computer system solutions that address complex challenges within the power generation sector, emphasizing reliability and execution speed. The consultant will apply software quality assurance principles to configuration management system software and will be responsible for creating computer and information system plans that leverage existing technology while judiciously integrating new technologies as needed. In addition to technical responsibilities, the OT Consultant will provide customer support for problem reporting and service requests, which includes developing and delivering training to end users on the systems they manage. The role requires a strategic approach to planning computer hardware, software, and network infrastructure to align with business objectives and corporate standards. The consultant will conduct business analytical studies to ensure that the System Business Unit's needs are met and will analyze user processes to identify areas for improvement. The position also involves performing audits of organizational work, revising procedures to comply with regulatory requirements, and communicating technical information effectively. The consultant will implement, test, troubleshoot, and enhance electronic automation and control systems to improve production quality and efficiency. This includes checking control system schematics and specifications, diagnosing system malfunctions, and developing control system applications for various machinery using technologies such as PLCs, HMIs, DCSs, SCADA, and CNC systems.
