About the position

As an Operational Technology (OT) Cybersecurity Engineer at Siemens Energy, you will play a crucial role in the energy transition by ensuring the security of OT and IT systems within energy transmission projects. You will work within a motivated team to design and implement cybersecurity solutions for Flexible AC Transmission systems (FACTS) and High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems, focusing on protecting critical infrastructure and enhancing communication networks.

Responsibilities

  • Design solution-oriented industrial cybersecurity for customer projects in control technology for energy transmission systems.
  • Support the design, implementation, testing, and system integration of customer-oriented OT/IT security solutions.
  • Analyze customer requirements and develop corresponding OT/IT security solutions.
  • Track technical developments and technological trends in OT/IT security.
  • Conduct threat and risk analyses and define corresponding countermeasures.
  • Create technical specifications and documents for OT/IT network and security concepts based on customer requirements and international standards.
  • Configure and commission communication components and virtual environments.
  • Provide evidence of the implementation of holistic IT security requirements in projects, including hardening measures and penetration testing.
  • Support commissioning and after-sales teams in troubleshooting and warranty activities.

Requirements

  • University degree in network/communication technology, computer science, automation technology, electrical engineering, or similar with a focus on IT security.
  • 3 or more years of operational security experience in OT/IT networks or security for control systems or large automation systems.
  • Knowledge of NERC CIP and relevant regulations and standards in cybersecurity (e.g., IEC 62443, ISO27001).
  • Basic knowledge in the field of energy infrastructure.
  • Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting network devices from manufacturers like Cisco, Ruggedcom, Checkpoint, Fortinet.
  • Theoretical knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, network separation, zone concepts, redundancy mechanisms, encryption concepts, and system hardening.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for business as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with penetration testing and threat/risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with international cybersecurity standards and frameworks.
