About the position

The Operations Accounting Manager at Newmont International Services Limited is responsible for overseeing and analyzing accounting records to prepare and evaluate financial statements. This role involves supporting regional accounting teams, coordinating regional reporting, and ensuring compliance with SEC reporting processes. The manager will also develop accounting guidelines, assess investments, and support global accounting governance related to impairment and reclamation. Additionally, the position requires managing operational accounting support and identifying continuous improvement projects within accounting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Examine, analyze, and interpret accounting records to prepare and evaluate financial statements.
  • Analyze operational accounting issues and support Regional Accounting teams.
  • Coordinate regional reporting for close cycles.
  • Support SEC reporting process.
  • Develop and maintain accounting guidelines.
  • Determine commercial production criteria and assess investments.
  • Support global accounting governance for Impairment and Reclamation with FP&A and Corporate Closure teams.
  • Acquire reclamation cost estimates, complete reclamation models, and review output for reasonableness.
  • Prepare journal entry processes with regional teams and oversee SOX404 process.
  • Manage monthly operational accounting support and administration of BPC OPEX and BPC Reclamation applications.
  • Identify continuous improvement projects for accounting processes, detailed solutions in both SAP and BPC, and controls and data requirement definition.
  • Assist with design, testing, and implementation of SAP and BPC system configuration, and master data maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in a related occupation.
  • Experience in stockpile inventory accounting and net realizable value (NRV) computation in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Experience coordinating and facilitating regional reporting results for month-end close cycles.
  • Experience with project accounting systems and reporting.
  • Experience with operating expenditure systems and reporting.
  • Experience with financial reporting under US GAAP and SEC rules & regulations.
  • Experience in internal control system design to comply with Sarbanes Oxley 404 requirements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Familiarity with SAP transaction codes and BPC report-writing.
  • Mine accounting experience (operating site/regional experience).
