About the position

The Operations Analysis / Operations Research Associate role at Lockheed Martin is designed for early-career professionals who are passionate about solving complex challenges in missile defense and strike systems. This position involves working within a dynamic team environment, contributing to Independent Research and Development (IRAD) projects, and supporting various program tasks. The associate will engage in code development, analysis runs, and the interpretation of results to provide actionable recommendations based on data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a working knowledge of Missile Defense system functions, scientific principles, technologies, and operations.
  • Translate interceptor, radar, and battle management concepts into simulation input.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of simulation codes.
  • Generate output to support analysis products.
  • Develop MATLAB models of algorithms, optimization techniques, hit-to-kill physics, and data processors.
  • Work in a fast-paced, high work volume, highly technical, small team environment.
  • Work across LINUX and Windows operating systems.

Requirements

  • Ability to receive and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and Top Secret Clearance.
  • Strong MATLAB skills.
  • STEM bachelor's degree with a strong understanding of physics fundamentals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Willingness to take on detailed technical assignments often requiring learning or developing advanced math models and algorithms.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering.
  • Strong C++ or other object-oriented programming language software development skills.
  • Knowledge of missile defense weapon, C2BMC, and sensor systems.
  • Missile defense threat knowledge.
  • Familiarity with AFSIM and STK.
  • Experience with high fidelity missile defense modeling and integration.
  • Experience with modeling radars using physics-based modeling.
  • GIT/Software Configuration Management experience.
  • Experience in Machine Learning.
  • Experience in probability and statistical analysis.
