About the position

The Operations Analyst II position at the Florida Gaming Control Commission is a highly responsible role focused on complex licensing work within the Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering. The Commission's mission is to ensure the integrity of gaming activities through effective regulation, licensing, and enforcement. This position requires a candidate who can manage multiple priorities and work efficiently under tight deadlines. The ideal candidate will be expected to interact professionally with both internal and external stakeholders, maintaining a goal-directed approach even in stressful situations. The role involves significant independent work as well as collaboration within a team to research, gather, and analyze information related to licensing applications. The working hours for this position are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and good attendance is crucial due to the time-sensitive nature of the work. Candidates must be prepared to report to work daily and on time, with leave requests needing to be made in advance except in emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process pari-mutuel, cardroom, and slot machine occupational license applications.
  • Take appropriate action in the licensing database to facilitate the issuance of licenses for eligible applicants.
  • Accurately profile each application in the licensing database within 24 hours of receipt.
  • Identify deficient applications and notify applicants of errors and/or omissions within 30 days.
  • Create checklists to ensure all requirements have been met for licensing applications.
  • Retrieve criminal history reports from the FDLE website and match them with applications to determine further documentation needs.
  • Answer public inquiries regarding licensing laws, rules, and policies.
  • Respond to customer inquiries via email, telephone, and other correspondence processes.
  • Assist with scanning fingerprint cards for electronic submission to FDLE as needed.
  • Submit retained fingerprints to FDLE via Falcon.
  • Research and request license and enforcement status information from other gaming jurisdictions for slot applications.
  • Assist with scanning and indexing documents into OnBase, the Commission's imaging system.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the Licensing Administrator or Chief of Operations.

Requirements

  • Six (6) years of professional experience in systems analysis, management analysis, program planning, program research, program evaluation, engineering, or administrative work.
  • Two (2) years of experience must involve reviewing and/or researching licensure applications for occupational or professional licenses.
  • An associate degree can substitute for two (2) years of required experience.
  • A bachelor's degree can substitute for four (4) years of required experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Versa Regulation and OnBase is preferred.
