About the position

The Data Analyst, Product Development role at Pearson involves collaborating with a dynamic team to support the GED exam and its study products. The analyst will focus on understanding business needs, driving data collection, measurement, and analysis to inform impactful decisions for the company and its learners. This position emphasizes the importance of data governance and aims to foster a culture of data-informed decision-making across various functional roles within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Understand Pearson's functional roles that rely on Product Data, with a deep understanding of one or two roles.
  • Serve as a Data Steward for functional roles, hosting meetings, authoring glossaries, and communicating data updates to stakeholders.
  • Perform root cause analyses related to product data in support of other teams.
  • Prioritize and drive large-scale data projects to completion, conceiving new projects aligned with GED's Product Data vision.
  • Gather requirements and documentation for product data, ensuring data validity, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of completing data queries via MS SQL Server, Google GBQ, or Tableau reports.
  • Enforce Pearson's Product Data Governance rules and advocate for data-informed decision-making.

  • Good understanding of KPIs and data quality metrics.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and balance priorities.
  • Willingness to work independently or collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Flexibility to work with an international team across multiple time zones.
  • Experience managing internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Independent mindset with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Great organizational skills and adaptability to change.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders from varied cultural backgrounds.
  • Degree (or equivalent) preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced abilities in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and vLookup.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Teams and the Web Version of Tableau.
