About the position

The Operations Analyst position at Pearson involves working as a Data Analyst within the Product Development team, focusing on the GED exam and its associated study products. The role requires collaboration with various functional areas to understand business needs and drive data collection, measurement, and analysis to inform impactful decisions. The position emphasizes a culture of data-informed decision-making and requires strong analytical skills, particularly in managing product data and facilitating communication among stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Understand Pearson's functional roles that rely on Product Data, with a deep understanding of one or two areas.
  • Serve as a Data Steward for functional roles, hosting meetings and authoring Business Glossaries.
  • Perform root cause analyses related to product data in support of other teams.
  • Prioritize and drive large-scale data projects to completion, conceiving new projects as needed.
  • Gather requirements and documentation for product data, ensuring its validity and accuracy.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of completing data queries via MS SQL Server, Google GBQ, or Tableau reports.
  • Enforce Pearson's Product Data Governance rules and advocate for data-informed decision-making.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of KPIs and data quality metrics.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and balance priorities.
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Flexibility to work with international teams across multiple time zones.
  • Experience managing internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction.
  • Great organizational skills and adaptability to change.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Advanced abilities in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and vLookup.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Teams and the Web Version of Tableau.
