The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking an Operations Analyst to join its Information Technology Services (ITS) team, specifically within the Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) unit. This position is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the IT infrastructure, which is monitored 24/7/365. The Operations Center Administrator will be responsible for overseeing a vast array of critical IT infrastructure, aiding in the notification and escalation of outages, and facilitating the handling of major service outages. As a key team member, the Operations Analyst will vigilantly monitor services, scan infrastructure for potential issues, and collaborate with service owners to resolve any arising problems. In addition to monitoring, the role involves managing the centralized monitoring platform, which includes onboarding systems from central IT and other university departments. The Operations Analyst will also be expected to demonstrate expertise in executing processes independently during major incident handling and effectively communicate during outages. This position requires a rotation out of the Operations Center for at least two weeks a year into the centralized network group, providing a comprehensive understanding of the IT operations landscape. The I&O unit is dedicated to managing the ITS data centers and providing around-the-clock support for ITS business computing activities. This includes maintaining the infrastructure for network and data communications transport services, desktop computers, and operating systems for non-research ITS servers, as well as disaster recovery and business continuity activities. The successful candidate will be part of a team of over 300 professionals committed to advancing higher learning through innovative IT initiatives.
