About the position

G&A Partners' client is currently seeking an Operations Analyst to join its team in Houston, TX. This position is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing the financial budget, scheduling of maintenance activities and procurement of goods and services for the operations, engineering, and maintenance departments. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, conduct extensive data analysis and summarize findings/recommendations for management.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously update the operating and capital budgets to account for changes in the scope and timing of various projects within operations, maintenance, and engineering departments.
  • Setup new and track existing contractors and vendors in company accounting and compliance programs.
  • Create requisitions and purchase orders for equipment and supplies. Record goods receipts and review invoices for accuracy and proper account coding.
  • Prepare service requisitions for operation, maintenance, and capital projects. Track completion of work and associated time and materials or lump sum invoicing. Ensure costs are coded to appropriate accounts.
  • Participate in maintenance and construction planning meetings and update operating expense and capital expenditure forecasts.
  • Continuously track forecasted and actual expenditures to ensure adherence to approved budgets. Prepare reports for management as necessary to account for changes and variances.
  • Collaborate with contractors and vendors to update pricing schedules and resolve issues with invoicing, and accounts payable.
  • Manage contracts, invoices and payments for routine and recurring services or supplies for the operations, maintenance, and engineering departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or science related field required
  • Familiarity with oil and gas midstream operations is required
  • At least 5 years of experience in liquid pipeline and terminal operations or capital project accounting is preferred
  • Computer and application skills required (i.e., Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote)
  • Familiarity with accounting system (i.e., SAP, Lawson, Microsoft 365, NetSuite) is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
