About the position

Mainspring Energy is at the forefront of revolutionizing power generation with its innovative linear generator technology, aimed at creating a net-zero carbon grid. As an Operations & Analytics Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing the operations of our rapidly growing fleet of Linear Generators (LGens). This position is integral to our Operations & Analytics Team, where you will engage in the operation and monitoring of the fleet, troubleshooting issues, and leading incident resolution efforts. Your work will involve advanced data analysis to enhance our product offerings and communicate fleet performance effectively. In this foundational role, you will have the opportunity to influence operational processes and contribute to the development of a new company function. The position is designed for an engineer with strong analytical and technical skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for managing remote operations, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement monitoring platforms, and delivering high-quality analytics to various departments, including Service, Engineering, and Sales. Your insights will focus on fleet availability, performance metrics, compliance with NERC standards, and identifying opportunities for improvement. Additionally, you will be tasked with improving automation through the development of necessary tools, collaborating with Operations & Maintenance (O&M) teams to schedule service activities, and participating in company-wide initiatives related to quality assurance and product validation. This role also includes the responsibility of training new team members as the business unit expands, making it a dynamic and impactful position within Mainspring Energy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage operations of the Mainspring Energy LGen fleet, including remote operation and troubleshooting.
  • Lead incident resolution and ensure effective communication during operational challenges.
  • Design and implement monitoring and communication platforms in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Deliver regular analytics on fleet availability, performance, connectivity, and compliance with NERC metrics.
  • Identify and report on opportunities for improvement and issues resolution to relevant teams.
  • Provide high-quality data reports to customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop tools to improve automation in operations and analytics processes.
  • Collaborate with O&M teams to optimally schedule and execute service activities.
  • Participate in quality assurance, test engineering, reliability, product validation, and software development activities.
  • Identify and train new team members for the growing business unit.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex troubleshooting problems under pressure.
  • Experience in systems engineering, particularly in electro-mechanical, mechatronics, or energy systems.
  • Work experience in data engineering or analytics, including time-series data and cloud tools.
  • Ability to build and maintain disciplined operations and training processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in fleet management or remote operations of assets, preferably in the energy sector.
