About the position

As an Operations Asset Manager at Crete Carrier, you will play a crucial role in managing a designated fleet of drivers to ensure that the company meets its expectations for driver productivity and asset utilization. This position is essential for maintaining the operational efficiency of our transportation services. You will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of drivers, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, and optimizing routes and schedules to enhance productivity. Your leadership will be vital in fostering a positive work environment and reducing driver turnover, which is critical for our ongoing success in the transportation industry. In this role, you will perform various supervisory responsibilities, including coaching and mentoring drivers, planning and assigning work, and addressing any complaints or issues that arise. You will also be tasked with dispatching drivers based on available equipment and load criteria, ensuring that all operations align with company policies. Balancing time-off requests with operational needs will be a key part of your responsibilities, as will maintaining regular communication with drivers to optimize their productivity. You will track all loads from dispatch to delivery, resolving any service issues that may occur along the way. Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with drivers and other team members will be essential to your success in this role. Regular attendance and the ability to travel as needed are also important aspects of this position, as you will be expected to be present and engaged in the daily operations of the fleet.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a designated fleet of drivers to meet Company expectations for driver productivity and asset utilization.
  • Performs supervisory responsibilities, including coaching, planning, assigning work, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • Dispatches drivers based on available equipment and load criteria.
  • Routes drivers to specific destinations as required by Company policies.
  • Balances time off requests made by drivers with the operational need to move freight.
  • Communicates with drivers to optimize driver productivity and reduce driver turnover.
  • Monitors driver logbook hours to comply with Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Tracks all loads from dispatch until delivery and resolves any service issues.
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships.
  • Travels as needed.
  • Receives and carries out instructions.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; or three to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Communicates effectively.

  • Manages multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Uses computers and software programs proficiently.
