About the position

As an Operations Assistant Manager at Dollar Tree Stores Inc., you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the store while providing exceptional customer service. Your primary responsibility will be to greet and assist customers in a positive and approachable manner, addressing their inquiries and concerns effectively. You will maintain a visible presence in the store, ensuring that it is clean, well-stocked, and welcoming for customers. In this position, you will work closely with the Store Manager to supervise, train, and develop Store Associates on operational practices and procedures. This includes assisting in unloading merchandise from delivery trucks, organizing stock, and transferring items from the stockroom to the sales floor. You will also support the Store Manager in various administrative tasks such as ordering merchandise, payroll record keeping, scheduling, and managing cash register deposits and receipts. Additionally, you will play a key role in loss prevention efforts and assume certain management responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager. You will be expected to follow all company policies and procedures diligently, contributing to a positive work environment and ensuring compliance with operational standards. This role requires a flexible, full-time schedule, including availability for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Your ability to lift merchandise and meet the physical demands of the job will be essential to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and assists customers in a positive, approachable manner.
  • Answers questions and resolves customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Maintains a presence in the store by providing excellent customer service.
  • Ensures a clean, well-stocked store for customers.
  • Supervises, trains, and develops Store Associates on operating practices and procedures at the direction of the Store Manager.
  • Assists in unloading all merchandise from delivery truck and organizes merchandise.
  • Transfers merchandise from stockroom to store.
  • Assists Store Manager in ordering merchandise and record keeping, including payroll, scheduling, and cash register deposits and receipts.
  • Supports Store Manager in loss prevention efforts.
  • Assumes certain management responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Follows all Company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Prefer completion of high school or equivalent education.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives (e.g., merchandise schematics).
  • Prefer store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environments.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 40 lbs. (and occasionally, up to 55 lbs.) from floor level to above shoulder height.
  • Must be able to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
