About the position

The Operations Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in the daily operations of the store, ensuring that customers receive exceptional service while maintaining a well-organized and stocked environment. This position is designed for individuals who have a passion for retail and a desire to lead a team. The Operations Assistant Manager will work closely with the Store Manager to oversee store operations, manage staff, and ensure that all company policies and procedures are followed. This role requires a proactive approach to customer service, as the Operations Assistant Manager will be the face of the store, greeting and assisting customers in a positive and approachable manner. In addition to customer service, the Operations Assistant Manager will be responsible for supervising, training, and developing Store Associates. This includes providing guidance on Family Dollar operating practices and procedures, as well as ensuring that all associates are equipped to deliver excellent service. The Operations Assistant Manager will also assist in the unloading of merchandise from delivery trucks, organizing stock, and transferring items from the stockroom to the sales floor. The role requires a strong focus on maintaining store cleanliness and organization, as well as supporting the Store Manager in loss prevention efforts. The Operations Assistant Manager will also assist with administrative tasks such as ordering merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash register management. This position may require the individual to assume certain management responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager, making it essential for the Operations Assistant Manager to be knowledgeable about all aspects of store operations. Responsibilities

  • Greets and assists customers in a positive, approachable manner.
  • Answers questions and resolves customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Maintains a presence in the store by providing excellent customer service.
  • Ensures a clean, well-stocked store for customers.
  • Supervises, trains, and develops Store Associates on Family Dollar operating practices and procedures at the direction of the Store Manager.
  • Assists in unloading all merchandise from delivery truck, organizes merchandise, and transfers merchandise from stockroom to store.
  • Assists Store Manager in ordering merchandise and record keeping, including payroll, scheduling, and cash register deposits and receipts.
  • Supports Store Manager in loss prevention efforts.
  • Assumes certain management responsibilities in absence of Store Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prefer store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environments.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 40 lbs. (and occasionally, up to 55 lbs.) from floor level to above shoulder height.
  • Must be able to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Candidates must pass drug screen and background check.
