About the position

The Operations Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in the daily operations of the store, ensuring that customers receive exceptional service while maintaining a well-organized and stocked environment. This position is designed for individuals who have a passion for retail and a desire to lead a team. The Operations Assistant Manager will work closely with the Store Manager to oversee store operations, manage staff, and ensure that all company policies and procedures are followed. This role requires a hands-on approach, as the Assistant Manager will be involved in various tasks, from customer service to inventory management. In this position, the Operations Assistant Manager will greet and assist customers, providing a positive and approachable demeanor. They will be responsible for answering questions, resolving customer inquiries, and maintaining a clean and inviting store atmosphere. The Assistant Manager will also supervise, train, and develop Store Associates, ensuring that they are well-versed in Family Dollar's operating practices and procedures. This includes assisting in unloading merchandise from delivery trucks, organizing stock, and transferring items from the stockroom to the sales floor. Additionally, the Operations Assistant Manager will support the Store Manager in various administrative tasks, including ordering merchandise, record-keeping, payroll, scheduling, and cash register management. They will also play a vital role in loss prevention efforts, helping to safeguard the store's assets. The position requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 55 lbs, along with the physical demands of walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting. The Operations Assistant Manager will assume management responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager and perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the store.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and assists customers in a positive, approachable manner.
  • Answers questions and resolves customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Maintains a presence in the store by providing excellent customer service.
  • Ensures a clean, well-stocked store for customers.
  • Supervises, trains, and develops Store Associates on Family Dollar operating practices and procedures at the direction of the Store Manager.
  • Assists in unloading all merchandise from delivery truck and organizes merchandise.
  • Transfers merchandise from stockroom to store.
  • Assists Store Manager in ordering merchandise and record keeping, including payroll, scheduling, and cash register deposits and receipts.
  • Supports Store Manager in loss prevention efforts.
  • Assumes certain management responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prefer store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environments.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 40 lbs and occasionally up to 55 lbs from floor level to above shoulder height.
  • Must be able to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Candidates must pass drug screen and background check.
