About the position

As an Operations Assistant Manager at Dollar Tree, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Store Manager with all operational tasks within the store. Your primary focus will be on front-end and sales floor operations, ensuring that the store runs smoothly and efficiently. You will assist in the hiring, training, and development of store associates, contributing to a positive work environment and fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration. In this position, you will be responsible for performing all opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager, ensuring that all company assets, including store cash, are protected and secured. You will adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines, while maintaining a professional and friendly atmosphere for customers and staff alike. Your role will also involve maintaining the store's stockroom and sales floor to company standards, ensuring that all areas are organized and presentable. You will have direct supervisory responsibility for all hourly associates when the Store Manager is not present, guiding them in their daily tasks and ensuring compliance with company directives. This includes processing corporate directives, managing cashiering activities, and assisting with the receipt and return of DSD merchandise. You will also help create weekly schedules and manage store supplies and expenses, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the store's operations. Your ability to coordinate promotional displays and signage will be essential in maximizing sales effectiveness, particularly in seasonal areas of the store. You will also be responsible for processing damaged merchandise and ensuring that coolers and program racks are refilled daily, enhancing the shopping experience for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with all store functions and day-to-day store activities as directed by the Store Manager
  • Perform all opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager
  • Assist the Store Manager in protecting and securing all company assets, including store cash
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures including safety guidelines
  • Maintain a professional and friendly environment with customers, subordinates and supervisors
  • Maintain all areas of the store, including the stockroom and sales floor, to company standards to include recovery
  • Direct supervisory responsibility for all hourly Associates when the Store Manager is not on the premises
  • Process all SSC Corporate directives including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests and any additional communications related to store activities as delegated by the Store Manager
  • Assist the Store Manager on the receipt and return of DSD merchandise
  • Follow the VIP and DSD Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure proper staffing coverage on a daily basis
  • Ensure that the sales floor is sales effective on a daily basis
  • Manage cashiering activities to ensure all company cash handling practices & guidelines are followed at all times by all Associates
  • Assist in the management of sales effectiveness of seasonal areas in the store
  • Coordinate appropriate signage utilized in the store
  • Process damaged merchandise on a daily basis
  • Assist Store Manager with creation of weekly schedules
  • Assist in the management of store supplies and expense control
  • Assist with merchandising and maintaining the checkout area to maximize impulse sales
  • Ensure coolers and store-front program racks/displays are refilled daily.

Requirements

  • Prefer prior retail and management experience
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills
  • Ability to lift, bend and transport merchandise weighing up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work in a high energy team environment
