About the position

The Chief of Staff (COS) at First Horizon Bank plays a pivotal role in supporting the Director of Operations and the senior leadership team to achieve the organization's goals. This position is essential for ensuring effective communication and collaboration across various departments, acting as a strategic leader who guides initiatives from conception to execution. The COS is responsible for enhancing team efficiency, managing critical business processes, and providing leadership and direction to staff, all while promoting a culture of ethics and compliance within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Steers strategic business initiatives from genesis to fruition.
  • Leads effort to transform vision/ideas into reality and monitor their progress.
  • Guides senior leaders with expert advice to enhance overall team efficiency.
  • Keeps meetings focused; planning and coordinating them effectively.
  • Demands structure, processes and defines tools to achieve efficiencies across the organization.
  • Sets key performance indicators to measure and improve team performance.
  • Pinpoints and addresses core issues within business processes.
  • Completes special projects and initiatives with skillful oversight and support.
  • Evaluates risk factors when making critical business recommendations.
  • Identifies areas of improvement across the organization and makes actionable recommendations.
  • Leads multiple staff functions that provide horizontal support across all of Operations to achieve consistency and standardization.
  • Promotes ethics and compliance; identifies opportunities and takes action to enhance compliance within the organization; completes internal testing to ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, progressive discipline and resolving problems.
  • Provides leadership, direction and growth opportunities to members of the organization in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred or combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of industry experience required; 10+ years preferred.
  • Must have minimum of 8-10 years of personnel management/leadership experience.
  • Must have 8-10 years of financial services experience.
  • Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and time management skills.
