About The Position

The Operations Co-Op position is designed for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in a refinery environment. The role involves understanding safety procedures, operating equipment, and performing various duties to support refinery operations. The co-op will shadow operations personnel to learn about the day-to-day operations of refinery units and will be responsible for fireguard duties and housekeeping tasks as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
• Must have completed two semesters in a specified technical program at Shelton State Community College

Responsibilities

• Know proper safety procedures for operating in and around the process areas in the refinery
• Be able to describe operating equipment; pumps, compressors, fans and other process equipment
• Perform housekeeping duties as required
• Read and follow all applicable guidelines and procedures
• Shadow/observe operations personnel to obtain working knowledge of day-to-day operation of refinery units
• Perform fireguard responsibilities
• Be able to identify and apply pertinent sections of PSM
• Successfully complete Operator Trainee Safety Audit
• Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by supervision
