About the position

The Operations Controller at Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is responsible for providing accounting and analytical reporting services to the dealership and related operations. This role involves financial oversight of accounting processes, internal business reporting, credit, collections, and compliance activities. The Operations Controller will lead a team, ensuring that accounting processes meet company standards while also identifying opportunities for operational improvements and efficiency projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accounting and analytical reporting services to the dealership and related operations.
  • Lead and develop the accounting team to ensure financial oversight and compliance.
  • Preview financial and accounting analytical reports, providing suggestions for operational improvements.
  • Oversee internal business reporting, systems, tax-related matters, and credit collections.
  • Support Regional Vice Presidents in coordinating the annual business planning process.
  • Maintain a customer-focused environment with high standards of work quality.
  • Identify and execute technology and efficiency-related projects for the operations accounting team.
  • Participate in or lead special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an operational accounting or Controller role.
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of operations, particularly with inventory and accounts receivable.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and internal control procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with a business intelligence tool preferred.
  • Strong interest in leveraging analytical technology.
