About The Position

The Operations Controller at Amalga Composites is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing accounting and back-office operations within the company. This position reports directly to the CEO and is crucial for ensuring operational efficiency and financial accuracy. The Operations Controller will manage a team of three professionals and will be involved in various functions including accounting, HR, purchasing, payroll, IT, and sales administration, with a focus on discrete manufacturing and ERP systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • MBA or other advanced degrees preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years in professional finance roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
  • Mandatory experience in manufacturing businesses and financial modeling.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced financial tools.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced financial modeling capabilities.
  • Experience with EPICOR Kinetic and other financial software tools.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting and manufacturing workflows.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership abilities.
  • Detail-oriented, strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional teams effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee AR, AP, Procurement/Purchasing, and Product Costing, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Prepare financial statements, including monthly and annual reports, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory costing and support sales quoting processes by managing manufacturing cost data.
  • Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions to ensure optimal liquidity.
  • Lead and supervise IT, HR, and other administrative functions, ensuring seamless integration and efficiency.
  • Act as a backup resource for critical roles within these departments, ensuring continuity and coverage.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and planning process; review and monitor all financial plans.
  • Provide insights and advice for long-term business and financial planning.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring robust financial controls.
  • Maintain adequate insurance coverage and evaluate potential exposures.
  • Mentor and lead staff in finance, IT, HR, and procurement, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Support professional development and establish clear performance expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audits, and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and manage year-end audit schedules and reporting.
